About Oscar
Oscar Dewar is a seasoned compliance professional who has worked as a leader in the financial service industry for over fifteen years.
Prior to joining Evermore Capital Inc. in March 2022, Oscar worked at CI Global Asset Management as Senior Manager in the Compliance Department overseeing the Portfolio Management Division. Prior to that, Oscar worked at Fidelity (Canada) Asset Management as Manager, Investments Compliance, at IA Clarington Investments as Senior Compliance Manager, and at State Street Canada as AVP, Investments Compliance.
Before going into compliance, Oscar spent just over 4 years working for the Government of Jamaica as an economist with the Planning Institute of Jamaica, an arm of the Ministry of Finance. During this time, Oscar wrote and published reports and analyses on the financial services industry, the distribution sector, the overall economy and pioneered a quarterly economic report on the entertainment industry.
Oscar holds a Master of Science in Economics specializing in development economics and econometrics. He holds an undergraduate degree with honours and with a double major in economics and accounting. Oscar earned both degrees at the University of The West Indies (Mona Campus). Oscar has completed the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course and the Chief Compliance Officers Qualifying Examination offered by the Canadian Securities Institute.
